randn (Matlab function)

Normally distributed random numbers and arrays

Matlab/Scilab equivalent

Matlab Scilab
randn
randn(n)            % n scalar
randn(sz1,...,szN)

randn(Sizes)
randn(.., 'single')
randn(..,'like',p)  % single | double
randn(randomStream,..)

% No equivalent

randn('seed', sd)
rand('state')
rand(1, 'normal')
rand(n,n, 'normal')
rand(sz1,..,szN, 'normal')

// No equivalent
// No equivalent
// No equivalent
// No equivalent

rand(R, 'normal') // Only size(R) considered

rand('seed', sd)
// No equivalent
With Matlab, Sizes, sz1, sz2, .. can be complex. Then, only their real parts are used as actual sizes. Scilab would yield an error.
