Calling Sequence

trace(X)

Arguments

X

real or complex square matrix, polynomial or rational matrix.

Description

trace(X) is the trace of the matrix X.

Same as sum(diag(X)).

Examples

A=rand(3,3);
trace(A)-sum(spec(A))
